Membership Orientation Requirements

Orientation is required for all adult members within 3 months of becoming a member. For a family membership, both adult family members are required to complete an orientation class. Completion of orientation is also required prior to using the chapter facilities and before the member will receive his/her annual membership identification card and access fob. Orientation classes provide:

  1.  an overview of the Chapter rules and regulations,
  2.  operation of the range equipment,
  3. safety; and are recommended for the entire family

Orientation classes are typically held on the 3rd Saturday of every month starting at 7:30AM at the Chapter House for approximately 3 to 4 hours. Please check the website event calendar for the actual date and time of the next orientation class. The orientation includes a safety discussion portion on the rifle and skeet ranges (before the ranges open for the day) and if you do not arrive on time you may miss part of this and need to return next month before you can complete the orientation requirement and get your membership card and access fob. each member must pass a written quiz to show that they are familiar with the chapter's rules and regulations in order to successfully complete the orientation.

Each member is required to fulfill a minimum of nine hours of direct service to the LCC-IWLA each year while he/she is a member, including the year the member joins the chapter. Active participation as an Officer, Director, State Delegate, National Delegate, Committee Chairperson, or active committee member (subject to verification by Committee Chairperson) also counts as meeting the workday requirement. If a member fails to meet the workday requirement, that member will be assessed a workday fee (currently $99.00) for that year. Members who are approved for membership between October 1 and December 31 are exempt from meeting the workday requirement for the year in which they join, but must fulfill the requirement in the following years. Exempt from the workday requirements are Youth, Student, Chapter Life (not Life members with National IWLA), deployed active duty Military (meeting the requirements of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act), Senior members, and members with physical disabilities.

New members will be assigned to one Chapter Committee Chairperson. The committee assignment shall last for a period of twelve months following approval as a member. A member may always work on more than one committee if he/she would like.
